I grew up within walking distance of all of these motels. One interesting detail that I still remember from childhood: The Rio used to have a sign painted directly on its windowless brick wall that said (I don't remember the exact words, but this is close): "For 12 consecutive years, the Rio Motel has had the highest occupancy rate of any hotel in the world." I never knew how they knew this, or if it was true.

Dear sir,

Type fundrise in to google. There is a distinct reason that after the depression our cities stopped being built by those who live in them, who care about them. The creation of the SEC included a restriction on private equity offerings to "accredited investors," currently defined as those worth a million or more. The creation of the FHA and nationalization of the mortgage industry is the other component of the disempowerment of urban neighbors.

Fundrise gets around this problem by using the internet as an effective way to solicit equity in neighborhood projects via PUBLIC equity offerings -- securitizing development.

There is hope, and it comes in the form of innovative companies making the existing protectionist laws look as foolish as they are.
